Learning to present with confidence is one of the best things you can ever do for yourself, and your career. It’s not just about being able to give a boardroom presentation, or delivering an online pitch but about feeling confident to speak up in meetings and many other situations. You will learn how to really engage with your audience. Read on if you would like to become a clear, concise and confident speaker online and off (watch our video testimonials).

How do I learn?

You can choose whether to do the course in person face to face or virtually. Both options will be individually taught, so it will just be you and your presentation skills coach.

What situations will it help me with?

Business presentations online and off e.g. boardroom presentations, pitching internal ideas, webinars, technical presentations, conference presentations, customer proposals and sales presentations, internal meetings, investment pitches, keynote speeches and more… (learn the principles of virtual presenting and for in-depth training on the subject, see our Virtual Presenting course).

How does the programme work?

You can choose to meet your coach in person or do the training virtually.

Face to face in person:

  • One x 60-minute coaching session (covering Parts 1 & 2)
  • One x 1 full day at a convenient venue (covering Parts 3, 4 & 5)
  • 1 x post training video review with feedback from your coach
  • 4 weeks of email coaching support
  • Workbooks, exercises, video practise and materials to support and embed learning
  • You’ll receive the book High-Performance Presentations by Dee Clayton, which will enable you to learn more on the themes

OR

Virtual training:

  • 4 x 90-minute virtual coaching sessions – live and interactive, covering Parts 1-5
  • 4 x post training video reviews with feedback from your coach
  • 4 weeks of email coaching support
  • Workbooks, exercises, practise and self-study materials to support and embed learning
  • You’ll receive the book High-Performance Presentations by Dee Clayton, which will enable you to learn more on the themes

Optional extra: 1 x 60-minute live web call review (Part 6) ideal for face to face and virtual learners.

By the end of the course, I will be able to:

  • Feel less nervous and be able to focus on the audience rather than yourself
  • Use breathing and manage your state of mind to have a greater sense of calm and control
  • Enhance your body language and voice to demonstrate executive presence
  • Prevent distractions and banish bad habits in your body language, voice or breathing
  • Deliver with confidence, knowing you’ve had practice time and constructive feedback
  • Create clear slides instead of a ‘script on a screen’
  • Keep improving, know what to practise and the quick wins to prioritise.

Watch the video testimonials at the bottom of this page to see and hear how other clients have benefited from this programme and improving their confidence.

Here’s the course breakdown:

Part 1 – Where are your most important areas for development?

You will complete a short quiz and answer self-reflective questions in the ‘Styles, Strengths and Weaknesses’ workbook (hard copy or e-version available). This allows you to pinpoint your development areas and the coach to review your needs and tailor the programme to identify any quick wins and the key areas to focus on that will make the biggest difference.

You will be asked to film yourself (optional) giving a short presentation so your coach can check they concur with your self-analysis, so nothing is missed and inform their next steps.

Part 2 – How does my state of mind impact my performance?

We help you to identify which mindsets are necessary to be a calm, confident and clear presenter and which have an adverse effect. You will learn techniques and exercises which are designed to change negative worries into more positive and useful thoughts. We help you to overcome common concerns like hating the feeling of “all eyes are on me” to thinking “they are all judging me”.

If you’re doing the virtual training, your (optional) home play will include creating a short video of your session realisations. This embeds what you have been taught, allows you to practice your new-found presentation skills and drives improvement as your coach provides constructive feedback.

Part 3 – Why is good body language important online and off?

Here we study body language and find out how to show presence, poise and passion. You will learn and practise standing and seated ‘Presenter Stance’, what to do with your hands, and when and where to look. If you’re doing the virtual training, you will use what you’ve learnt in a short video and your coach will provide constructive feedback.

Part 4 – How does breathing impact the voice?

Your coach will listen to your voice and watch your breathing to see if there is anything that could be improved. You will learn the importance of breathing and voice exercises and the role they play in making you not only clear but also calm and confident too. Then you can practise speaking with a new-found quality, confidence and clarity. If you’re doing the virtual training, you will use what you’ve learnt in a short video and your coach will provide constructive feedback.

Part 5 – How can I avoid death by PowerPoint or conference call fatigue?

Your coach will show you how to make your message clear and simple, so you can avoid having hundreds of text heavy slides and easily remember what to say. No more mind blank moments! This will make it easier for your audience to engage, understand and remember your message.

Whether you are doing the virtual or in person face to face training, you will be invited to show what you’ve learnt throughout the programme in a short finale review video. Your trainer will provide constructive feedback and highlight next steps.

Part 6 – Practise and next steps 60-minute live review

This section is an optional extra, but we highly recommend it. This is where it all comes together – time for you to practice and embed everything you’ve learnt. You will deliver your presentation in a live web call to your trainer. They will give you constructive feedback on the delivery of your presentation.

Knowing that you are able to practise all the techniques learnt will give you one final confidence boost. And you’ll leave with a detailed plan for your next steps so you can continue to improve even after the course has finished.

“The training has helped with my calmness and breathing What I like most was the live feedback. The training will enhance my frequent presentations on the job. Highly recommend this to others.”
Alfie – Senior Bid Development Manager

“It pushed me out of my comfort zone, but not too far, I felt empowered to stand up and talk, not forced to. I believe in myself more and at least have body language to appear confident. Looking forward to what’s to come with rest of training” [Stages 2 & 3]
Abigail – Executive Assistant

“I know what to do with my body language, how to be clear with my voice and how to make my message simpler. I’ll use this when presenting to the management team and externally. Definitely recommend this to others”

Anxious or stage fright when presenting? Hear from Joanne...

Dee’s presentation skills course was excellently received by the team. Every person who attended said they saw a huge difference in themselves and each other from the start of day 1 to the end of day 2. Dee’s 4MAT structure has also been hugely beneficial and is being used across the team, resulting in more concise presentations. Would highly recommend.

Category & Shopper Marketing Controller

Before I worked with Simply Amazing Training, even the thought of presenting made me suffer from panic attacks and made me feel physically unwell. During the mindset mentoring session we uncovered the “monkeys” as Dee calls them, that were causing the issues and I learnt how to turn them into more positive thoughts instead. In another session, I learnt the tricks on the structure and preparing a presentation which gave me lots of practice which was just as well because only a few weeks later I presented at an all company conference … I felt so much better about it than I ever have before – my monkeys were under control.

Credit Controller – Global Manufacturing Company

I must say that making that first contact was a big step for me and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The course is very well structured and the techniques learnt invaluable in addressing public speaking fears. We developed a good 1:1 relationship quickly. I no longer shy away from opportunities to run meetings and present updates, in fact, I have since done several types of presentations with great success. I have made a big step forward and I feel so much happier and better within myself. I am about to change role and it was my increased confidence gained from this course that gave me the impetus to seek out a different opportunity.

Director – UK Consumer and Corporate bank

I decided I wanted to do motivational speaking, [The course] taught me how to structure a talk, what was my ethos, what I believed in, what were my core priorities in a talk … the things I needed to change I’ve changed … I’m happy with my talk. I thought it was full of energy, the reaction from the crowd was good [and I included] some of the key points suggested to help me so I’ve got no complaints. My confidence in how to structure a talk, how to be a speaker has grown and that’s just been working one to one.

After the Pro training, I felt very much happier, more confident and enthusiastic about my presentations. I know how to prepare and structure presentations. I know I can present well because I know how to adapt my message to what the audience wants. I now use less unnecessary hand gestures [and when I do use my hands it is for more meaningful gestures]. I am speaking more slowly and pausing more regularly [hence] less stuttering. I really liked the immediate feedback correcting me instantly.

Richard Lee – Entrepreneur, Reporter at Sky
and Performance Coach

The mindset course on ‘monkey taming’ is brilliant. For the first time, I was able to dedicate time to thinking about the things that were holding me back. The techniques and style make the ‘monkey taming’ process simple and effective, and allowed me to change my mindset.

In the Pro session, we worked on a presentation that I was to deliver at a big industry event – understanding how to get the key messages out, connect with the audience better and ultimately feel more at home ‘on stage’. I was extremely happy with my delivery and received some excellent feedback from the delegates at the conference.

Most presentation courses you come away thinking “that was great” and then forget it all… this one changes you, for the better, forever.

10/10 Better presentations! After seeing Dee speak at our annual conference I decided to sign up to her public speaking coaching lessons. I was not as confident as I’d liked to have been about preparing and delivering presentations. We tamed my ‘public speaking monkeys’ (as Dee calls them) and learnt advanced skills. Her unique approach really worked. I now feel much more confident, prepared and deliver clearer presentations. Highly recommended!

Operations Director – UK Serviced Offices Group

I took these programmes shortly before speaking at our annual conference and I had never spoken in public before. During the trainings, I learnt posture, better storytelling and how to speak with more pauses and less “ums”. We learnt how to present without even using PowerPoint and to easily remember what to say. Following the courses, I feel so much more prepared and clear and a lot less nervous. The conference talk went really well and everyone praised me on how well I’d done – I remembered everything I wanted to say without any slides at all.
