What is coaching?

Coaching is a method of facilitating an individual or group to enhance their own performance and productivity. It involves following a neutral process to enable the individual to uncover their real needs challenge(s) which may be hindering or slowing their growth potential and success.

Coaching is about empowering the person – it’s about helping people find the answers for themselves, rather than telling them what to do. Coaching is a collaboration between a coach and coachee(s) to look for ways to maximise skills, knowledge, learning and potential, identify solutions to certain problems, and guide an individual to achieve personal and professional satisfaction.

Why do coaching in the business?

A study conducted by International Coach Federation shows that 80% of people who receive coaching reported having increased self-confidence, and over 70% benefit from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills (source: ICF 2009).

These numbers reveal the importance of coaching not only for the business but also for its employers and employees. Effective leaders take pride in improving the performance of their colleagues in the workplace. When all stakeholders feel valued and supported, it will also have a significant impact on the company’s success.

By providing coaching opportunities in the workplace, the workforce is given the chance to approach a ‘thought partner’, not an expert, which is the role of a coaching professional (source: ICF, 2020c). Coaches can help make a difference in the individual’s performance and the team’s well-being.

Coaching Courses

Having seen the evidence, you might begin to be thinking how powerful coaching could be in your organisation. Yes, it takes time, but learning how to be a great coach is rewarding personally and professionally. Being a good coaching means taking the time and effort, and learning the skills to boost people’s confidence and belief in themselves. Being a good coach means  bringing out the best in people.

With our award-winning coaches and trainers, our coaching courses will help you hone your coaching skills, provide a safe practice ground and help you develop your personal coaching style.

How does the coaching course work?

Our coaching courses are a blended programme, either face-to-face or virtual. They may typically be:

✔️ Face-to-face: 2 days plus 2 x two-hour virtual workshops before and after the session

(before the session: to share the foundations and core principles and after the session: to follow through and ensure learnings are being used in the workplace)

✔️ Virtual: 8 x two-hour live and interactive sessions

Optional: Additional 3 x group coaching sessions to discuss progress and enable individuals to experience the benefits of group coaching in addition to 1:1 coaching – great for building trust in teams.

Maximum 6 participants per trainer.

What is Simply Amazing Training’s approach to coaching?

Here at Simply Amazing Training, instead of using the GROW Model, we use a unique approach to coaching.

After more than 20 years of using and testing a variety of coaching methods and models in commercial environments, Melanie Blyth developed the 5-O Coaching Framework alongside Dee Clayton. This framework includes the 5 key steps of coaching where each step can be progressed through separately, at different and ongoing sessions, to uncover and work on big or deep topics. What’s good about this framework is, this is also designed to be used in one go – in short conversations – by providing a simple structure to get the most out of many manager-employee interactions.
